"This Pussy's Got Claws" is a poster I made in homage not just to my outrage over a known sexual predator being elected president, but as a statement on how I am still furious at, despite so much progress, how women's bodies continue to be downplayed as not worthy of equal care, or are seen as open to public consumption, ridicule, and abuse. Early suffragettes used to be equated with cats and kittens in order to downplay their "ferociousness," or pin them as silly or inconsequential, and I wanted to reference that archetype of female sexuality and power not as something cute or endearing but as a force to be reckoned with. On a personal note, this cat is a doppelgänger of my own cat, Emma, who has provided me and my family much comfort during these past few months.
